Aram Heritage Hotel is located in the heart of Old Damascus, specifically next to Office Anbar, and is officially classified by the Syrian Ministry of Tourism as a five-star heritage lodging (heritage guesthouse). The hotel is one of the historic Damascene houses that has preserved the charm and authenticity of traditional Syrian architecture, making it an ideal choice for travelers seeking to stay in a genuine Damascene home.
The house dates back to the late eighteenth century, when it was considered one of the most prominent Damascene palaces, before being transformed into its current form following a meticulous restoration process. Throughout the restoration, great care was taken to preserve the original architectural elements, including stone floors, walls, columns, engravings, and traditional decorative details that reflect the identity of classic Damascene houses.
In addition, Aram Hotel was carefully adapted into a heritage hotel while maintaining its authentic Damascene features, such as the traditional architectural layouts, the Damascene liwan, hand-crafted decorations on doors, and Roman columns. These elements give the property a complete historical character that clearly distinguishes it from conventional hotels.
In terms of layout, the house consists of eight rooms, with four rooms on the ground floor and four rooms on the first floor, all furnished in a way that preserves the heritage atmosphere while providing guests with essential comfort throughout their stay.
Thanks to its prime location and tranquil ambiance, Aram Hotel Damascus offers a stay experience that combines authenticity, simplicity, and cultural identity. It is also a convenient option for visitors wishing to stay close to major historical landmarks and traditional markets in Old Damascus, within a Damascene house that truly retains the warmth and spirit of the place.
Our stay experience at Aram Hotel Damascus began with booking through Hojozaty, where the reservation process was simple and straightforward. We chose a single room with a double bed, making it a practical option for budget-conscious travelers.
Upon arriving at Al-Sawwaf Street in Damascus, the hotel’s modest Damascene character was immediately noticeable. The entrance leads to a quiet inner courtyard centered around a traditional water fountain, creating a pleasant atmosphere that helps soften the noise of the city.
Overall, the hotel reflects the simplicity of old Damascene homes, with clear heritage touches such as an old wall-mounted telephone and classic decorative elements that evoke a sense of nostalgia. The room itself was functional and suitable for a single stay, featuring a comfortable bed, good cleanliness standards, and all the essential amenities needed for a comfortable overnight stay—without unnecessary luxury.
As for the bathroom, it was small in size but clean and practical, equipped with a shower and hot water. In general, Aram Hotel Damascus can be described as a simple hotel in terms of facilities; however, it remains a suitable choice for travelers seeking affordable accommodation. Considering its price and location, it is especially well-suited for guests who prefer to save on costs while enjoying a calm stay with a traditional Damascene atmosphere.
