In one of the oldest continuously inhabited capitals in the world, the hotel stands as an architectural masterpiece that embodies the beauty and authenticity of traditional Damascene houses.
Among the stone alleys filled with the scent of history, Dar Al Mamlouka Hotel stands out with its heritage façade, ornately decorated ceilings, and eastern courtyard centered around a traditional stone fountain. Here, refined oriental luxury blends seamlessly with the warm spirit of Damascus. The interior design offers a strong sense of privacy and tranquility, making it ideal for guests seeking either a peaceful stay or a culturally immersive experience within the old city.
One of the most distinctive features of Dar Al Mamlouka Hotel Damascus is the carefully selected names of its rooms and suites. Each room carries the name of a historical figure or cultural symbol that reflects the identity of the place, such as Al-Mutanabbi, Al-Razi, Ishtar, Al-Khayyam, Qays & Layla, Ugarit, and Salah Al-Din, in addition to suites named Bilqis, Zenobia, and Scheherazade. Staying here is not only about comfort; it becomes a literary and historical experience that deepens the guest’s connection to the spirit of the property.
The rooms range from single and double rooms to spacious suites, all designed to preserve the traditional character while providing essential comfort elements. This makes the hotel a suitable choice for couples, solo travelers, and lovers of traditional Damascene homes.
Thanks to its prime location in Bab Touma and its proximity to historic churches, traditional markets, and cultural landmarks, Dar Al Mamlouka Hotel Damascus offers a stay that combines authenticity, quiet luxury, and refined oriental identity — making it an ideal address for those seeking a distinctive experience in Old Damascus.
Our experience at Dar Al Mamlouka Hotel Damascus began with booking the Qays & Layla Double Room (King Bed) for $140 per night through the Hojozaty platform. From the moment we arrived in the historic Bab Touma – Al Qaymariyah district, it was clear that we were entering an authentic Damascene house that preserves its historical soul and rare architectural details.
Upon entering the inner courtyard, we were welcomed by the stone fountain surrounded by greenery and carved wooden seating areas, creating a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere away from the city’s noise. What impressed us most were the fine architectural details — from the harmoniously arranged stone floors to the traditional Syrian arches and walls adorned with decorative motifs reflecting the identity of an old Damascene residence.
The Qays & Layla room carried a strong heritage character, as seen in the images. It featured walls decorated with hand-carved wooden panels, a comfortable king-size bed with warm-toned fabrics, and traditional patterned tile flooring that added authenticity to the overall atmosphere. The room also included a small seating area with two chairs and a carved wooden table, providing a cozy corner to relax.
The room’s view overlooking the fountain added an extra layer of serenity, especially with natural light reflecting beautifully on the courtyard details. The bathroom was متوسط in size and clean, equipped with practical amenities that met expectations while harmonizing with the hotel’s overall style.
One charming detail that added a warm, human touch to the stay was the gentle gray cat that quietly roamed the courtyard, becoming part of the hotel’s atmosphere and welcoming spirit.
Overall, our stay at Dar Al Mamlouka Hotel Damascus was a complete heritage experience that combines architectural authenticity, privacy, and tranquility — ideal for those seeking a true Damascene-style stay in the heart of Old Damascus.
